THE CHALLENGE
All of the windows at the Broadway Fire Station in Lynn, Massachusetts were the original, embedded, single pane steel windows which had extremely poor thermal qualities. Given the 24/7 operation of the facility, the conditions of these windows made it extremely difficult to regulate the interior building temperatures to maintain a level of comfort for the occupants during the winter months. The inefficiency and heat loss associated with the windows also increased the annual heating costs of the building.
CBI’S SOLUTION
The replacement windows are thermally broken aluminum windows with low-e glass and will conform to high energy efficiency requirements, which will help increase the interior comfort. This energy efficient design of the new windows will also reduce the energy demands of the building and the City’s operating costs. All windows will also have improved operability.
