THE CHALLENGE
CBI evaluated roof leakage at the Western Avenue Fire Station and provided architectural and engineering design services for waterproofing repairs.
CBI’S SOLUTION
Both the existing high and low roofs were replaced with EPDM single ply membrane, edge metal, and associated flashing. The parapet on both roofs were retrofitted with emergency overflow scuppers to meet current building code requirements. The replacing and raising of the through wall flashing was also performed.
CBI was also engaged to replace the existing windows at the fire station. The existing windows were replaced with thermally-broken aluminum frame windows with thermally-improved insulated glass lites. This stopped the condensation, which had led to the rusting that ultimately caused the deterioration.
