Delta Crown Room Study, Logan Airport

THE CHALLENGE

In order to support proposed food court facilities at Logan Airport’s Terminal C for the new Delta Crown Room, the existing roof structure needed to be reviewed to determine its capacity to support new mechanical rooftop equipment.

CBI’S SOLUTION

The existing framing consisted of rolled steel girders, steel open bar joists and steel columns.  CBI reviewed the available building drawings and conducted a field survey in order to determine the accuracy of the plans.  Upon reviewing the roof structure it was determined that the existing framing was not adequate to support the proposed equipment.  CBI then designed and detailed a new platform and its interface with existing building components in order to support the equipment.
