Perform architectural and structural engineering design services associated with the investigation and repair of leaks due to ice damming during the winter.
CBI found that the existing buildings contained inherent design deficiencies, which caused snow to build up in valleys and long roof edges. With insufficient insulation under those areas, heat buildup caused ice dams and extensive leaking throughout the complex. Close to 1/3 of the units experienced leaks in the winter of 2005.
CBI designed a way to provide new waterproofing and ventilation in these areas while maintaining the aesthetics of the existing building. The installation also was completely performed from the outside without disturbance to unit owners.
