Autocad Drafter

CBI Consulting Inc. is an award-winning consulting firm specializing in Architecture, Structural Engineering, and Building Envelope Technology.  CBI’s projects focus on the renovation and restoration of existing buildings as well as some new construction for public awarding authorities (approx. 75%) and private clients (approx. 25%) with a focus on building exteriors.

 The selected candidate will be responsible for drafting for Building Envelope, Structural and Architectural projects.  Projects will include, but not be limited to, preparation of construction drawings and presentations derived from layouts and sketches using computer aided design (including AutoCAD, Revit, PhotoShop, and other) software.  

The individual in this position reports to the Project Managers and Principals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Produce plans, elevations, sections and details from field measurements, sketches and mark-ups provided by Project Managers.
  • Perform CAD drafting work in accordance with office standards and procedures.
  • Perform a variety of complicated CAD tasks.
  • Coordinate project information and needs with Project Manager, Contractors and Clients.
  • Perform field verification.
  • Photograph projects or potential projects.
  • Develop and prepare graphic presentations for clients.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate’s degree in a related area of study and a minimum of 3 years of applicable work experience.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Proficient in AutoCAD and SketchUp.
  • Prior professional experience with Revit is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Blue Beam.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite.
  • Understanding of construction materials and building assemblies.
  • Strong understanding of Building Technology and Means and Methods.
  • Experience with Building Envelope Technology preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to effectively present and communicate information verbally, graphically and in writing.
  • Ability to apply common sense to solve problems and make decisions in non-standard situations.
  • Familiar with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Familiar with federal, state and local codes as applicable to projects
  • Effective organizational/planning and time management skills

Professional work samples preferred over academic.  Work submitted shall be work drafted using AutoCAD, Sketch-Up and/ or Revit (or other BIM software) by the candidate.  Work sample file size shall be no larger than 4MB.
